Newtown Textile Museum is located in an 1830s hand-loom weaving 'factory'. The building consisted of six back-to-back cottages on the lower floors and two large rooms which housed up to 22 handlooms on the top two floors. It gives visitors a chance to see how the handloom weavers of the mid-19th century lived and worked. The museum features exhibits related to: woollen industry, costume and textiles, social history and land transport in mid-Wales.

The museum is now open for the summer. Reopening for special early weekend 24 -28 April 2025 then from 1 May - 30 September.
Small group tours can be arranged during hours when the Museum is closed to the general public.
