Nitre Hall, a nineteenth-century American building, is situated in Haverford Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. This historic building was recognized and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, marking its significance in American history.
Constructed shortly after 1800 on the banks of Cobbs Creek by Israel Whelen, Jr., Nitre Hall served as the residence of the master of the Nitre Hall Powder Mills. Although the powder mills have long been demolished, the hall stands as a testament to the area's industrial past.
According to the Haverford Township Historical Society, Nitre Hall is open to the public from May through October, and in December for special events. Visitors can also schedule appointments for a nominal admission charge, making it accessible for those interested in exploring its historical significance.
