NordArt is an internationally recognized art exhibition that showcases contemporary art. It is a non-profit cultural initiative of the ACO Group and the cities of Büdelsdorf and Rendsburg. The exhibition has been held annually in the summer in Büdelsdorf in Schleswig-Holstein since 1999. This makes it a long-standing event with a rich history of showcasing diverse and innovative art from around the world.
The NordArt exhibition is held on the site of a former iron foundry, the Carlshütte, which provides 22,000 m² of indoor space. In addition, the adjacent park offers a further 60,000 m² for the display of artworks. Each year, NordArt showcases works by over 200 selected contemporary artists from around the world. This vast and unique space allows for a wide variety of art forms and styles to be displayed.
The 23rd NordArt exhibition in 2022 is open from June 4 to October 9. This year's exhibition features a Polish Pavilion titled 'Above Borders / Ponad granicami', which presents contemporary Polish artists. Additionally, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, the exhibition has a special focus on China. This provides an opportunity for visitors to explore and appreciate art from these two countries.

Housed in the historic Carlshütte ironworks, the venue itself adds a unique industrial backdrop to the artworks. Visitors appreciate the vast scale of the exhibition, which showcases a diverse range of sculptures, paintings, photographs, and installations from artists around the world.
The exhibition is praised for its curation, presenting thought-provoking and often large-scale pieces that make full use of the expansive indoor and outdoor spaces. Many reviewers highlight the contrast between the modern art and the industrial setting, creating an engaging visual experience.
While the majority of feedback is positive, some visitors mention that the sheer size of the exhibition can be overwhelming, and it may require multiple visits to fully appreciate all the artworks. Additionally, a few reviewers note that some areas of the venue can feel a bit dark or poorly lit, which can affect the viewing experience of certain pieces.
Overall, NordArt is highly regarded for its ambitious scope, the quality and diversity of the artworks displayed, and the unique atmosphere created by its industrial setting. It's considered a significant event in the contemporary art world and attracts art enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond.
