The Norsk Skogfinsk Museum, or Norwegian Forest Finnish Museum, is a cultural history museum dedicated to the forest Finnish culture in Southern Norway. It was established in 2005 by the Gruetunet Museum, Finnetunet, Austmarka Historielag, and Åsnes Finnskog Historielag, which have since been transformed into departments under the museum. The museum serves as a significant cultural and historical resource for those interested in the forest Finnish culture and history.
The museum is situated in Svullrya, a small town that serves as the unofficial Norwegian center in Finnskogen. Finnskogen is a large forest area that straddles the national border between Solør in Norway and Värmland in Sweden. This location makes the museum a central point for exploring the forest Finnish culture and history in both countries.
The museum's departments are mainly open to the public from June to August. During this period, visitors have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the life in Finnskogen in the old days, and the living conditions, traditions, and culture of the forest Finns. This makes the summer months the ideal time to visit the museum.
