The Norwegian Sawmill Museum is situated in the town of Spillum, which is located to the south of Namsos in Norway. This location is easily accessible and offers a unique insight into the country's industrial history.
The Norwegian Sawmill Museum was inaugurated in 1991, built on the site of the former Spillum Dampsag & Høvleri sawmill. This sawmill had been out of operation since the 1980s, and its transformation into a museum has preserved an important part of Norway's industrial heritage.
The Norwegian Sawmill Museum is responsible for the management of the industrial-technical site of Spillum Dampsag & Høvleri. In addition, it also oversees the protected boat 'MB Hauka' and a collection of objects that represent the national history of sawmills in Norway. These exhibits provide a comprehensive overview of the country's sawmill industry.
