The construction of the Obelisk of Buenos Aires began on March 20, 1936, and was completed in a remarkably short time of 31 days. The monument was inaugurated on May 23, 1936, marking the fourth centenary of the city's first foundation.
The Obelisk of Buenos Aires stands at a height of 67.5 meters and has a base of 49 meters. The monument is hollow with a single entrance door. At its top, there are four windows that can only be accessed by climbing a staircase of 206 steps.
