The Osman Hamdi Bey Evi Museum is situated in the Eskihisar neighborhood of Gebze district in Kocaeli. This two-story house, where the renowned Osman Hamdi Bey spent the summer months of his final years, has been transformed into a museum that has been serving the public since 1987.
The museum houses a vast collection of Osman Hamdi Bey's personal belongings, family photographs, and full-scale reproductions of his paintings. One of the highlights of the museum is a room on the upper floor where visitors can see a three-dimensional representation of the moment when Osman Hamdi Bey was creating his painting "Çiçek Düzenleyen Kız" (The Girl Arranging Flowers).
The building was expropriated and converted into a museum in 1987, becoming the 138th museum of Turkey. Osman Hamdi Bey, in his youth, purchased a piece of land in Eskihisar, a popular summer resort of the time, and had a mansion constructed in 1884 according to his own design.
