In the 1950s, the Pearn Brothers began collecting steam traction engines and machinery, preserving Tasmanian agricultural history. Their collection, dating back to the late 1800s, includes items of significant state, national, and international value. In 2001, they donated this collection to the local community. Now, Pearn’s Steam World, run by volunteers, showcases over 200 historic items, forming the largest collection in the southern hemisphere.

Pearns Steam World in Westbury, Australia, offers an engaging experience for those interested in vintage machinery and agricultural history. The museum houses an impressive collection of steam engines, tractors, and other farm equipment, providing visitors with a glimpse into Australia's rural past. Many visitors appreciate the well-maintained exhibits and the opportunity to see some of the machines in operation. The volunteer staff are often praised for their knowledge and enthusiasm, adding value to the experience with their informative explanations. However, some visitors note that the museum's appeal may be limited for those without a specific interest in machinery or agricultural history. The layout of the museum can feel a bit cramped in some areas, and a few reviewers mention that more detailed signage or guided tours would enhance the experience. Despite these minor drawbacks, Pearns Steam World is generally regarded as a worthwhile stop for history buffs and machinery enthusiasts visiting the Westbury area.
