The Phoenix Trolley Museum, incorporated as the Arizona Street Railway Museum, is a historical institution established in 1975. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of original Phoenix trolley cars and related memorabilia. It showcases the significant role these trolleys played in the history of Phoenix, the fifth largest city in America.
The Phoenix Trolley Museum was originally situated next to the Margaret Hance Deck Park on Interstate 10 in downtown Phoenix. However, in December 2017, the museum had to relocate due to the City of Phoenix declining to renew its lease. Since 2018, the museum has found a new home in Phoenix's historic Grand Avenue Arts and Small Business district, which is one of the earliest trolley lines in the city.
In a remarkable event in December 2020, local businessman Mike Bystrom donated a street car to the Phoenix Trolley Museum. This particular street car was believed to have been lost in a trolley car barn fire back in 1947. Bystrom not only donated the street car but also paid for its transportation to the museum's Grand Avenue site, where it is now on display.
