Photo Élysée, located in Lausanne, Switzerland, is one of the pioneering museums in Europe that is solely dedicated to the art of photography. This museum, which was formerly known as the Musée de l'Élysée - Musée cantonal pour la photographie, has been a significant platform for showcasing the evolution and diversity of photographic art since its establishment.

New Location of Photo Élysée

In June 2022, Photo Élysée reopened its doors in a new location, the heart of Plateforme 10, Lausanne's new arts district. The museum is now housed in a building designed by the renowned Portuguese architects Aires Mateus. This building is shared with the mudac, the Museum of Design and Contemporary Applied Arts, offering visitors a diverse and enriching cultural experience.

Collection at Photo Élysée

The collection of Photo Élysée is a rich tapestry of works from both internationally acclaimed photographers and Swiss photographers. It includes significant sets from photographers such as Geraldo de Barros, Mario Giacomelli, Gabriel Lippmann, Pieter Hugo, and John Philipps. The museum also showcases works from Swiss photographers like Paul Vionnet, Constant Delessert, Hans Steiner, and Jean Mohr.
