The museum boasts one of the most extensive collections of Poe's manuscripts and letters, numerous first editions of his works, pictures, photos, illustrations, and memorabilia from the author's personal estate and his family. This includes a vest of Poe's, a travel suitcase and walking stick from his possession, and a lock of his hair.

Exhibits at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum

The museum consists of four buildings, with exhibits highlighting different aspects of Poe's life, work, and influence. The Elizabeth Arnold Poe Memorial Building houses numerous early and first editions of Poe's works, including a print of his most famous poem, The Raven, and one of only twelve surviving copies of Poe's first poetry collection, Tamerlane and Other Poems.
