Poldermuseum Heerhugowaard and its collection

Poldermuseum Heerhugowaard
Source

Poldermuseum Heerhugowaard is located in the former pumping station on the southern ring dike. The museum displays cultural-historical objects related to the Heerhugowaard polder. Among other things, there is a permanent collection of two archaeological finds from the polder as well as jewelry, maps, paintings, utensils and carpenter's tools. In 1877, the first section of the pumping station was built where the polder mills had previously stood. The Foundation took over the entire building from the Water Board on September 8, 1994, when the nearly 100-year-old pumps had since been shut down.
