The Porter House Museum, located in Decorah, Iowa, is a historic house and museum that was once the residence of Adelbert Field Porter and his wife, Grace Young Porter. This Italianate style house, situated at 401 W. Broadway, is part of the Broadway–Phelps Park Historic District, which is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The house was built in 1867 and has a rich history, having been home to several generations of the Porter and Young families.
Bert and Grace Porter were avid travelers, and Bert developed a natural history collection during his travels through North America, South America, and Asia. This collection, which includes morpho butterflies from South America, is part of the museum's exhibits. Visitors can also see the rock wall surrounding the property, which was built in part by Bert Porter, and the family's personal effects, such as papers, books, furniture, and china.
