Established in the summer of 1997, Risør Akvarium is the only saltwater aquarium in Sørlandet. This unique feature makes it a distinctive destination for tourists interested in marine life.
A Variety of Marine Life
Risør Akvarium houses 25 tanks showcasing a variety of common fish species and other marine life from the Norwegian sea. Visitors can expect to see species such as the wolf fish and the conger eel.
Collaborative Sourcing and Biodiversity
The aquarium is home to approximately 500 fish and sea animals, sourced in collaboration with local fishermen, hobby fishermen, divers, and researchers. This collaboration has resulted in a collection of over 100 different species, providing a comprehensive view of the region's marine biodiversity.
