Rough Point is a mansion from the Gilded Age, located in Newport, Rhode Island. The mansion was designed by the architectural firm Peabody & Stearns for Frederick William Vanderbilt. The construction of the mansion, made of red sandstone and granite, began in 1887 and was completed in 1892. This historical mansion offers a glimpse into the past and the lifestyle of the wealthy during the Gilded Age.

Museum and Gardens

Today, Rough Point serves as a museum located on Bellevue Avenue. It is situated next to the Cliff Walk and offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The last owner of Rough Point was Doris Duke, and it is currently owned and operated by the Newport Restoration Foundation.
