    Route 66 State Park is a public recreation area that is situated on the Meramec River. This park is located at the site of the former town of Times Beach in Missouri. The town was bought, dismantled, and decontaminated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency after the discovery of widespread dioxin contamination in the 1980s. Today, fields of wild grass and brush grow where the homes of evacuated residents once stood.
