Tierpark Sababurg is a wildlife park situated near the Sababurg in the Reinhardswald in the Kassel district in the German state of Hesse. The park was established in 1957 and has been known as Tierpark Sababurg since 1973. It is one of the largest and oldest parks in Europe, covering approximately 130 hectares.
The park is home to a variety of animals, including common farm and forest animals as well as endangered, native species. The park is divided into three sections: the Urwildpark, where endangered, native wild animals live and nearly extinct species are bred; the Huistierhof, where old agricultural and domestic animals are cared for and bred; and the Kinderzoo, which houses animals that can be touched or at least seen up close. Not only native animals live here, but also exotic ones like the Humboldt penguin and the Bennett wallaby.

Sababurg Zoo has 1 rating.
Sababurg Zoo, located in Sababurg, Germany, offers visitors a pleasant and educational experience. The zoo is set in a picturesque forest environment, which adds to its charm. Many visitors appreciate the variety of animals on display, including both native and exotic species. The enclosures are generally well-maintained and provide ample space for the animals.
One of the highlights frequently mentioned by visitors is the zoo's focus on conservation and education. The zoo offers informative signs and educational programs, which are particularly enjoyable for families with children. The staff is often described as friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience.
However, some visitors note that the zoo is relatively small compared to larger urban zoos, which might be a drawback for those expecting a more extensive collection. Additionally, a few reviewers mention that some areas of the zoo could benefit from updates or renovations.
The on-site restaurant receives mixed reviews, with some praising the food quality and others finding it average. The zoo's accessibility might be challenging for some visitors, as it's located in a more rural area, but many find this seclusion part of its appeal.
Overall, Sababurg Zoo provides a good balance of wildlife observation, education, and nature experience. It's particularly well-suited for families and those who appreciate a more intimate zoo experience in a natural setting.
