Scarborough Castle defends a prominent headland between two bays, with sheer drops to the sea and only a narrow landward approach. Specially contructed viewing platforms on the battlements offer panoramic views. The site's 3,000 year history is explored in interactive displays in the restored Master Gunner's House, accompanied by artefacts from each period of Scarborough's past. Less mobile visitors can enjoy a groundfloor touch-screen virtual tour of the displays as well as virtual views reproducing those from the raised platforms.

Scarborough Castle, located in Scarborough, England, offers visitors a blend of history and scenic views. The castle, perched on a headland overlooking the North Sea, provides panoramic vistas of the coastline and town below. Many visitors appreciate the well-preserved ruins and the opportunity to explore the castle's long history, which spans from Roman times through medieval periods and beyond. The on-site exhibition in the Master Gunner's House is informative, offering insights into the castle's past and the town's history. However, some visitors note that the site can be windy due to its exposed location, and recommend bringing appropriate clothing. The steep walk up to the castle can be challenging for some, but most find the views from the top worth the effort. While the castle itself is primarily ruins, many find this adds to its atmospheric charm. The staff are often praised for their knowledge and friendliness. Some visitors mention that they would appreciate more interactive exhibits or guided tours to enhance the experience. Overall, Scarborough Castle is valued for its historical significance, impressive views, and the chance to step back in time, though some feel the admission price is a bit high for the current level of interpretation provided.
Me and my husband visited Scarborough castle during our holiday. They had a knight battle event taking place. We had a great time watching the performances and taking in the lovley views from the castle. I had a picture request for the Knights and jester for a school project which required their photo taken with a rubber duck 🙈. All of those asked really made the effort. Also at the end the Knights all posed for who ever wanted a photo. They took the time and gave everyone the opportunity to get a great pic. CHEESE! 🤣 No charge eighther like some places do. I thought it was lovely gesture. Great show. The jester was so funny the highlight for me. Nothing was too much trouble. They just wanted everyone to have a good time. Which we totally did 😁
