Schloss Wiesendangen is a significant historical site dating back to the 12th century. It is situated in the heart of the village of Wiesendangen, in the canton of Zurich, near Winterthur. Since 1967, this residential tower has been repurposed as a local museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history.
The tower came under the ownership of the municipality of Wiesendangen in 1958. Between 1965 and 1967, the building underwent restoration. Following this, it was repurposed as a local museum. This transition marks an important chapter in the tower's history and its role in the community.
The tower's architectural features are noteworthy. It has a square base measuring 9 meters on each side and stands 11 meters tall. Originally, it had a wooden superstructure, which was replaced by a hipped roof in the 18th century. The walls of the tower are constructed from large and rubble stones, adding to its rustic charm.
