The Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh is a highly regarded art museum that houses an impressive collection of fine art from the early Renaissance to the early 20th century. Visitors consistently praise the gallery's extensive collection of Scottish and international masterpieces, including works by renowned artists such as Botticelli, Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Monet, and Van Gogh.

The gallery's location on The Mound in the heart of Edinburgh's city center is convenient and adds to its appeal. Many reviewers appreciate the free admission, which allows art enthusiasts to return multiple times to fully explore the collections.

The museum's layout is generally well-organized, allowing for a pleasant viewing experience. However, some visitors mention that certain areas can become crowded during peak times, which may slightly impact the overall experience.

The quality of the artworks on display is consistently highlighted as exceptional, with many visitors expressing surprise at the caliber of paintings available in a relatively compact space. The Scottish art section, in particular, receives high praise for offering insights into the country's artistic heritage.

While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few minor criticisms include limited seating in some areas and occasional temporary closures of certain rooms for renovation or special exhibitions. Some visitors also note that the gallery shop and café are on the pricier side.

Overall, the Scottish National Gallery is widely regarded as a cultural treasure in Edinburgh, offering a world-class art experience that caters to both casual visitors and serious art aficionados.

The Scottish National Gallery displays a nice collection of European art over the centuries focusing on Scottish artists. All in all I think we spent 2 hours in this museum and liked it a lot. We also liked the descriptions of the artworks, making the visit more interesting. The Staff of the museum was also helpful and super friendly. All in all very interesting!
