Shetland Textile Museum is a community museum in Lerwick, Shetland – the only one of its kind dedicated to the islands’ textile heritage. It holds a Collection of Shetland textiles showcasing the skills unique to these Isles, comprising nearly 700 items, including Fair Isle knitting, knitted lace, Taatit rugs and woven tweed. Each day, local volunteer knitters and spinners demonstrate their skills in the museum, and share their knowledge with visitors. We also have a small gift shop, where local makers' high quality products can be bought.
