Siggebohyttans Bergsmansgard and its collection

Siggebohyttans Bergsmansgard
Source

The main building of Siggebohyttan was constructed in the 1790s by Anders Olsson, a wealthy miner. The structure is unique in its design, being long and narrow, stretching nearly 40 meters in length. The architecture of the building stands out as it differs from the typical style of that era.

Siggebohyttan as a Museum

In 1910, the County of Örebro acquired Siggebohyttan with the intention of converting it into a museum. The museum was officially opened to the public in 1929. Today, Siggebohyttan stands as one of the most exquisite examples of a mining estate in Bergslagen.

Restoration and Visitor Experience

Most of the buildings at Siggebohyttan have been meticulously restored, and the furniture has been reconstituted to reflect the period. Visitors during the summer can get a glimpse into the life of a bourgeois family in the Bergslagen region.
