Located on a hilltop outside the village of Sillerup, approximately 8 km northeast of Haderslev, the Sillerup Windmill was originally built as a grain mill. It also had a buckwheat milling and bakery connected to its main business. This historical context adds to the charm and interest of the mill for visitors.
After undergoing restoration, the Sillerup Windmill is now fully functional. It is equipped with much of its original furniture and tools, providing visitors with an authentic glimpse into the past.
Since its reopening in 1994, the Sillerup Windmill has been in operation most weekends during the summer months. Remarkably, the mill is run without public support, demonstrating the dedication and passion of those involved in its upkeep.
