Snowshill is no ordinary manor, as Charles Paget Wade was no ordinary Edwardian gentleman. Mr Wade embodied his family motto 'Let nothing perish', spending his life and inherited wealth amassing a collection of everyday and extraordinary objects. He bought each because of its colour, craftsmanship and design, restoring the ancient Cotswold manor house to display them. Laid out theatrically, the Manor is packed to the rafters with 22,000 or so unusual objects – from tiny toys to splendid suits of Samurai armour. The Manor is surrounded by a terraced hillside garden designed in the Arts & Crafts style.

Snowshill Manor and Garden, located in the picturesque village of Broadway in the Cotswolds, offers visitors a unique experience. The manor house, formerly owned by Charles Wade, is known for its eclectic collection of objects gathered over a lifetime. Visitors often comment on the diverse array of items on display, ranging from musical instruments to samurai armor, which reflect Wade's passion for craftsmanship and design.
The gardens surrounding the manor are frequently praised for their beauty and tranquility. Many reviewers appreciate the well-maintained terraces, orchards, and the charming model village. The outdoor spaces provide a pleasant contrast to the packed interior of the manor.
However, some visitors note that the manor can feel cramped and overwhelming due to the sheer volume of items on display. The lack of detailed information about individual objects is occasionally mentioned as a drawback. Additionally, access to the manor is via timed tickets, which some find restrictive.
The National Trust staff and volunteers are generally described as knowledgeable and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. The tea room receives positive mentions for its refreshments, though it can get busy during peak times.
It's worth noting that parts of the property may have limited accessibility for those with mobility issues, as the manor has narrow staircases and uneven floors.
Overall, Snowshill Manor and Garden offers a distinctive blend of quirky collections and beautiful outdoor spaces, appealing to those interested in unconventional museums and English country gardens.
