The Söğüt Ertuğrul Gazi Museum, also known as the Söğüt Museum, is located in the Söğüt district of Bilecik Province in Turkey. This region is historically significant as it is the birthplace of the Ottoman Empire. The museum is named after Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I, who was the founder of the empire.
Exhibits and Collections
The Söğüt Ertuğrul Gazi Museum boasts a wide collection of ethnographic items from the Bilecik area Yörüks, including old clothes, carpets, weighing instruments, flags, weapons, and coin purses. In addition, the museum also houses archaeological items such as earthenware kitchen tools from the Roman Empire and coins from the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman eras. These exhibits provide a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region.
