Since 2006, the museum has expanded its scope to include collections related to industrial and technological history, offering a more comprehensive understanding of the city's development.
The Stadtmuseum Wedel is housed in a historic building at Küsterstraße 5, which was built in 1829 as the first school in Wedel. This two-story late classicist brick building with a hipped roof is a cultural monument in its own right. Along with the Immanuel Church, the parsonage, the house at Market Square 3, and the Wedel Roland statue, it forms the last preserved urban ensemble of protected buildings in Wedel.
