Visitors generally appreciate the museum's diverse range of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and prints from various artistic movements.

The museum's strengths lie in its collection of Old Master paintings, particularly works from the 14th to 16th centuries, as well as its impressive array of modern and contemporary art. Many reviewers highlight the museum's architecture, which combines a historic building with a modern extension designed by James Stirling, creating an interesting visual contrast.

Positive aspects frequently mentioned include the well-curated exhibitions, the logical layout of the galleries, and the informative descriptions accompanying the artworks. The museum's temporary exhibitions are often praised for their quality and interesting themes.

However, some visitors note that the museum can feel overwhelming due to its size and extensive collection. A few reviews mention that some areas of the museum could benefit from better lighting to enhance the viewing experience.
