The Stedelijk Museum Wuyts-Van Campen and Baron Caroly derives its name from two bequests, of Jacob Joseph Wuyts in 1887 and of Baron Georges Caroly in 1935. The museum displays paintings and other art objects. The most important collection consists of paintings from the 16th to the 20th century. Highlights include the 'Familieportret’ by Frans Floris and ‘Spreekwoorden’ by Pieter Breughel the Younger. There are also works by modern artists such as Permeke, Edgar Tytgat and Floris Jespers. Besides painting, the museum also displays drawings, prints, silverware and ceramics.
