The Steintor, located in Bernau near Berlin, is a significant historical monument. It is the only remaining one of the three city gates that were originally built. Constructed in the late Gothic style from brick in the second half of the 15th century, it stands as a testament to the architectural prowess of the time.

Steintor as a Local History Museum

Since 1882, the Steintor has been serving as a local history museum. It is currently one of the two locations of the Bernau local history museum. The Steintor, with its armory, provides a glimpse into the Bernau history of the Middle Ages. Visitors can view a variety of exhibits, including weapons, guild signs, tools, and utensils.
