The Gl. Rye Mølle is a Dutch windmill that stands as a historical monument in the town of Gammel Rye, Skanderborg Municipality. Constructed in 1872, the windmill is built on a foundation of boulders, showcasing the architectural prowess of the time.
In 1988, a mill guild, formed by local residents, purchased the Gl. Rye Mølle with the intention of converting it into a museum. Their efforts came to fruition on May 5, 1990, when the museum at Gammel Rye Mølle was officially opened to the public.
The museum at Gammel Rye Mølle also houses the Museum for Clog Craftsmanship, which was relocated here in 1991. One of the notable exhibits is 'Petrine', the skeleton of a woman who was buried alive on the gallows hill in the 1500s, providing a unique insight into the history and culture of the period.
