    Recently,I returned to the Phillips Collection and especially appreciated its marvelous collection of 19th Century French oil paintings from the beginning of the 19th Century to the start of the 20th Century. I appreciated fine Early 19th Century Paintings by Antoine Felix Boisselier("View of Lake Nemi"),Camille Corot("Genzano')and Jean A.D Ingres("Small Bather"). I relished its fine later French Paintings by Eugene Delacroix("Horses Coming Out of Sea",a quintessential Delacroix painting),Gustave Courbet("Rocks at Mouthier"),Claude Monet("Road o Vethieul",quality French Impressionism),Alfred Sisley("Snow at Louveciennes",another delightful Impressionistic Painting),Edgar Degas("Dancers at the Barre"),Paul Gauguin("Ham"),and Vincent Van Gogh("Roadmenders"),among others. I also appreciated the intimate atmosphere of the Phillips Collection. The Phillips Collection also has Modern Art worthy of accolades,but that is the subject of future reviews.

    I have visited many, many art museums throughout the world. This small and intimate museum has to be one of my favorites. The selections of modern art are phenomenal. The Rothko Room is very special to modern art lovers. You also experience some parts of the historic mansion. It is indeed a hidden gem and a jewel in the art community in DC.
