Uffington Museum was originally a school for boys built in 1617 & became a museum in 1984. Located in the picturesque village of Uffington, the museum features exhibits on Thomas Hughes who wrote Tom Brown's Schooldays & Poet Laureate Sir John Betjeman who lived in the village. The permanent exhibitions feature the history of the 3,000 year old White Horse & surrounding areas such as Wayland's Smithy & the Ridgeway, together with a mock Victorian Schoolroom and artefacts donated by local residents. The 2026 exhibition - Myths, Monuments and Memory - explores the myths and legends woven into the Uffington White Horse landscape, from Saint George and the Dragon to the story of Weland the Smith.
