Ulefos Hovedgaard is recognized as a significant architectural masterpiece from the Empire period in Norway. This historical building, located on a hill north of the Ulefoss lock system near the town of Ulefoss, offers a unique glimpse into the architectural style and craftsmanship of the early 19th century. It was built by estate owner Niels Aall and his wife Christine Johanne Blom as a summer residence for their family, and was completed in 1807 after approximately five years of construction.
During the summer months, guided tours of the main building are offered, providing an in-depth exploration of the manor's history and architecture. The Telemark Museum also offers educational programs for school-age and kindergarten-age children, making it a family-friendly destination. Visitors can enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee at the on-site café, or explore the gallery. The building is also available for events and weddings, adding a touch of historical elegance to any occasion.
