Villa Römer, also known as Haus Frankenberg, is a historic villa located in Leverkusen - Opladen. The villa was built in 1905 by manufacturer Max Römer, who had moved to Opladen at the age of ten in 1865. His father had founded a Turkish red dye factory there, which Römer took over in 1890. The villa served as Römer's residence until 1923.
Since 1986, the Villa Römer is also known as the "House of City History" and serves as a venue for exhibitions dealing with the history of Leverkusen. The villa houses the city archives on the ground floor and basement, and is tasked with setting up a city history documentation center.
The history associations present regular changing exhibitions on city history topics and conduct events in the rooms of the villa. This makes the Villa Römer a dynamic and engaging place for visitors interested in the history of Leverkusen.
