Vindeby Mill is a unique Dutch windmill situated one kilometer west of the village of Vindeby in northwestern Lolland. The mill is entirely constructed from wood, with the lower part covered in roofing felt and the upper part adorned with shingles. The mill's hat, which is boat-shaped, adds to its distinctive appearance.
Vindeby Mill was deemed worthy of preservation and was protected in 1959 when its wings were torn off during a storm. The mill ceased operation in 1975, but the owner, Helge Green, ensured the preservation of as much of the original timber and inventory as possible. In 1986, he transferred the mill to “Vindeby Møllelaug”, and in 1989, a restoration of the mill hat, wings, walkway, and outer cladding began, based on the original designs. After nearly a decade of restoration, a fully functional mill was re-inaugurated on April 25, 1998.
