Vogelpark Schotten is a unique destination located in Schotten in the Vogelsbergkreis. The park is home to a wide variety of both exotic and native animals, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience and learn about diverse species in one location.
Established in 1978, Vogelpark Schotten has grown and evolved over the years into a small zoo. It now houses a diverse collection of birds, mammals, and reptiles from all corners of the globe, offering a unique and educational experience for visitors of all ages.
One of the highlights of Vogelpark Schotten is its largest building, the tropical house. This facility features a free-flight hall where visitors can see reptiles, monkeys, and exotic birds in a naturalistic setting. Adjacent to this is the monkey house, home to skull monkeys and red-handed tamarins, providing a unique opportunity to observe these fascinating creatures up close.
In addition to its indoor exhibits, Vogelpark Schotten also features an outdoor area where visitors can see birds from around the world in aviaries and open spaces. This includes rheas, a type of flightless bird native to South America. The park also houses llamas and old domestic animal breeds, such as the red-brown Husum pig, adding to the diversity of the animal collection.
