The Wald- und Forstmuseum, located in Heidelbeck, a district of the municipality of Kalletal in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia, is a museum dedicated to the themes of forest, forestry, and hunting. The idea for the establishment of such a museum originated in the 1970s, and it was officially opened to the public in September 1985.
The Wald- und Forstmuseum's collection covers the topics of forest, forestry, and hunting. A significant part of the exhibition focuses on the representation of regional animal species using specimens and their endangerment due to human intervention. The museum also documents the development of hunting weapons and hunting methods from the Middle Ages to modern times.
The museum season for the Wald- und Forstmuseum runs from Good Friday to November 1, with the museum open every Saturday, Sunday, and on holidays. Group visits can also be arranged. However, due to a planned restructuring and reorientation of the museum into a "forest and adventure center" by the municipality of Kalletal and the Lippe district, the museum is currently closed. The date for the reopening is not yet known.
