The Walser Museum Triesenberg is a local museum located in Triesenberg, Liechtenstein. It is dedicated to the cultural history of the Walser people who have been permanent residents of the Triesenberg municipality since the end of the 13th century. The museum provides a deep insight into the life and culture of the Walser people, making it a significant place for those interested in history and culture.
In 1959, the municipality of Triesenberg acquired a house built in 1601, now known as the "Walserhaus". Two years later, the first museum was opened in this house. The "Walserhaus" is a significant part of the museum, providing a glimpse into the architectural style and living conditions of the Walser people in the 17th century.
After the construction of a "village center" was planned in 1976, the museum moved to a new building that spans several floors. This new location of the museum was opened on December 13, 1981. The multi-story building allows for a more extensive display of the museum's collection, providing visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the Walser culture.
