Ward Hall, located in Georgetown, Kentucky, is a Greek Revival antebellum plantation mansion. It was built around 1857 for Junius Richard Ward and his wife Matilda (Viley) Ward on their 500-acre plantation. This mansion is a significant representation of the Greek Revival architectural style and offers a glimpse into the antebellum period of American history.
Covering 12,000 square feet, Ward Hall is an impressive structure with 27-foot high Corinthian fluted columns. The mansion was originally built as a summer residence for the Wards, adding to its historical significance and charm.
Today, Ward Hall serves as the headquarters of The Ward Hall Preservation Foundation, Inc. The foundation successfully raised one million dollars to purchase the 40-acre estate. Ward Hall is recognized as a Kentucky Landmark and the entire complex is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a significant site for visitors interested in history and architecture.
