A small but excellent museum. Covering it's use as the towns workhouse and on the first floor a condense history of Northwich, from Roman times (including Roman artefacts found during archaeological digs). The 'long bowmen' of Cheshire, through to the war years. And concluding with a detailed explanation of how the old salt mines under the town centre were filled in and made safe to build on. You'll find the staff very friendly and helpful, with a small but excellent little gift shop and tea/coffee shop. This museum is ideal for a family visit (enough hands on activities to keep children interested), and is wheelchair accessible.
