Zoo d'Abruzzo, previously known as Safari Park d'Abruzzo until 2011, is a zoo located in the Italian town of Rocca San Giovanni, in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. It is the only zoo in the Abruzzo region, making it a unique destination for animal lovers and families alike. The zoo was inaugurated in 2007 and has since been a home to a variety of animal species.
In 2014, Zoo d'Abruzzo underwent an expansion, with the species being relocated according to their natural geographical distribution. This was followed by the construction of an owl aviary and a lemur island in 2015. These developments have enhanced the visitor experience by providing a more natural and authentic environment for the animals.
As per the estimates of 2019, Zoo d'Abruzzo was home to approximately 143 animals from 53 different species. These numbers have since been surpassed, with the zoo now housing over 200 specimens. This diversity of species makes the zoo a fascinating destination for those interested in wildlife.
