Exhibition 'Krijn de Koning & Armando' in Elleboogkerk
The permanent collection of works by Armando at Museum Flehitein Amersfoort was given a huge boost last summer by a very generous donation of 80 works by the Armando Foundation to museum dome Amersfoort in C. The donation includes paintings, drawings, bronze sculptures and ceramic vases and covers virtually the entire oeuvre of the artist who died in 2018 at the age of 88.
To celebrate this donation, Museum Flehite, in collaboration with Kunsthal KAdE, will display a wide selection in the Elleboogkerk on Langegracht 36 in Amersfoort in autumn 2024. Artist Krijn de Koning conceived a large stand-alone object for the presentation. The construction consists of a dark corridor system, from which Armando's work is hung. Through eight openings, visitors can enter this system of corridors and thus walk 'behind' the Armandos. At the heart of the set is a sculpture by Krijn de Koning that illuminates the corridors from the inside.
Krijn de Koning made the selection of Armando's to be shown in the Elleboog Church, zooming in on the more abstract component of the oeuvre.
Armando (1929-2018) was among the artists of the abstract zero movement in the 1960s and developed his own expressive painting style in the 1970s, initially mainly toned in black, white and red, later also using green and blue.
