Exhibition 'Paul Nash' in Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts
A key figure of Modern Art in Britain, Paul Nash (1889–1946) is regarded as one of the
most important British artists of the first half of the twentieth century. Renowned as an
official war artist in both the First and Second World Wars, Nash was particularly
fascinated with landscapes, especially those evoking ancient history.
Spanning his oeuvre from his earliest drawings to his iconic war-time paintings, the exhibition will examine Nash’s work in an international context and consider his position at the forefront of the developments of Modern British Art.
Organised by Tate Britain the exhibition will tour to the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle following its run at the Sainsbury Centre.
