Lyon is a large city in the east of France, located on the Rhône River. After Paris and Marseille it is the largest city in France. The city is known for its good food, wines and its famous chefs and is therefore also called the 'capital of gastronomy'.

There are two hills on both sides of Lyon: the Fourvière and La Croix-Rousse. The Fourvière offers space for the Notre-Dame de Fourvière and on La Croix-Rousse houses can be found where silk was weaved. Historically, Lyon was an important area for the production of silk. Both hills are separated by the valley of the river Saône. Due to the many monuments that can be found there, the historic center of Lyon is featured on the World Heritage List.
