The station was constructed by the Madrid to Zaragoza and Alicante Railway Company (MZA) and was inaugurated in 1895. The same year, the Valladolid-Ariza railway service was also launched. The railway complex had numerous facilities including passenger buildings, several goods docks, a wagon shed, and workshops. The station also had a locomotive depot, with its sheds, a rotating roundhouse, and water deposits.
The passenger building of the station no longer serves railway use and is now the headquarters of the Valladolid Association of Railway Friends (ASVAFER). This association is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of railway heritage, making it a point of interest for railway enthusiasts visiting Valladolid.
