Spain has a total of 45 places on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Spanish School is considered one of the most important in Europe. Among the most famous Spanish masters are El Greco, Juan Gris, Joan Miró, Murillo, Goya, Salvador Dalí, Juan Carreño de Miranda, Alonso Cano, Picasso, José de Ribera, Velazquez and Zurbarán. The most important art collections of the Spanish masters are located in the capital Madrid. In Barcelona, modernism flourished in the 19th century. Architect Antoni Gaudí is the most famous figure from this period.
