Bioparco and its collection

Bioparco
Source

The Bioparco is a 17-hectare large municipal zoo in Rome which feels like a safari, as there are no fences/bars in many parts of the Bioparco Zoo. The Zoo is home to over a 1,000 animals from more than 200 species. Its two newest exhibits can be considered as main attractions: the orangutan exposition, opened in 2014, and its Sumatran tiger exhibit, opened in 2015. The Bioparco Zoo was first opened in 1911. Since then, the exhibits have undergone many reconstructions and changes in design to reflect the new standards of animal care and to help the Zoo better serve as one of the institutions preserving the endangered species around the world.

Bioparco Reviews

Bioparco has 1 rating.

  • Apollo's Insights AI-Generated

Bioparco, Rome's zoological garden, offers a mix of experiences for visitors. The zoo houses a variety of animal species in a park-like setting. Many visitors appreciate the spacious enclosures and the opportunity to see animals up close. The park's efforts in conservation and education are noted positively. However, some areas of the zoo are reported to need updating, and a few visitors mention concerns about the conditions of certain animal habitats. The diversity of species is generally praised, but the zoo's size is considered modest compared to some international standards. While many find it a pleasant place for a family outing, others feel the entry price is a bit high for the overall experience. The location within Villa Borghese adds to its appeal, making it convenient for tourists exploring Rome. Despite some mixed reviews, Bioparco remains a popular attraction for those interested in wildlife, especially families with children.
