Bluff Point Light, also known as the Valcour Island Light, is a historical lighthouse that was in service from 1874 until 1930. Today, it is part of Adirondack State Park and is operated as a museum by the Clinton County Historical Association. Visitors can explore the lighthouse and learn about its history and the role it played in guiding ships through the channel between Valcour Island and New York State.
After the lighthouse was taken out of service, it was purchased by Doctor Otto Raboff who renovated it and used it as a summer house. In the 1980s, the lighthouse became a part of Adirondack State Park. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has held the deed to the house since 1986 and is responsible for its maintenance. This information provides context about the preservation and continued use of the lighthouse after it was decommissioned.
