The Book Museum (Buchmuseum) of the Saxon State Library is a traditional literature museum in Dresden. The museum emerged from the Zimelienzimmer of the Royal Saxon Library. The exhibition of the Book Museum is located in the SLUB building and is divided into a permanent exhibition in the so-called treasury and an area for temporary exhibitions. The Book Museum documents more than a millennium of book history. The treasure room of the museum contains especially valuable pieces from the SLUB. The most important scientific and historical exhibit is the Codex Dresdensis, a manuscript of the Maya acquired by Elector Friedrich August II in 1739.

The Book Museum at the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) offers visitors an engaging look into the history of books and printing. Located in Dresden, Germany, this museum showcases a diverse collection of rare books, manuscripts, and historical printing equipment. Visitors appreciate the well-curated exhibits that span from ancient manuscripts to modern book art. The museum's strength lies in its ability to present the evolution of book production and literacy in an informative and accessible manner.

Many reviewers highlight the museum's modern and clean design, which provides a pleasant environment for exploring the exhibits. The interactive displays and touchscreens add an element of engagement, allowing visitors to delve deeper into the history of various books and printing techniques. The museum's collection of incunabula (early printed books) and historical maps are often mentioned as standout features.

However, some visitors note that the museum is relatively small and can be explored thoroughly in about an hour. While this compact size makes it manageable for most visitors, some feel it could benefit from expanded exhibits. Additionally, a few reviewers mention that not all information is available in English, which can be a drawback for international visitors.

Despite its size, the Book Museum - SLUB is generally considered a worthwhile visit for book enthusiasts, history buffs, and those interested in the development of printing and written communication. Its location within the larger SLUB complex also allows visitors to explore the impressive modern library architecture.
