The Botanische Tuin Kerkrade is a botanical garden that does not belong to a university, established in 1939. A collection of indigenous and exotic plants grow inside and outside of greenhouses. There is also a subtropical greenhouse. The collection includes a pine family, Cryptomeria and flora from Madagascar. Various events are regularly organized including a garden flea market and an art market.
